Text to Speech: Speech to Text: Free solutions

Voice to Text

  • Many phone companies provide free voice to text services embedded within their phone message systems (i.e. you pay for the service as part of your service fee for the phone)
  • Siri
    • On the iPhone 4S (hopefully on Mac OSX soon !), Siri (see video here) allows unlimited voice to text conversion almost any app (e.g. the Notes app)  (again you pay for the service as part of your service fee for data transmission on the phone, or via the internet wifi connection you are using)

  • Vista and Windows 7 Speech Recognition
    • Built into Vista, it not only allows computer control through voice commands but also recognises speech during dictation.
    • I have found the accuracy for dictation to be so low, that it is pretty much useless.
  • Dragon Dictation
    • Free iPhone app that records up to 30 seconds of  voice and sends it to their webserver where it is converted to text and sent back to your phone.  You can then export it to an SMS
    • Linked to the company that sells one of the premier computer programs "Dragon Naturally Speaking"
Text to Voice
  •  www.readthewords.com website with free membership that allows you to type text and then converts to recordings of up to 30 second (free members) or up to an hour (paid members).

It is so far good for me as you can check online text conversion and text to speech for free but After registering an account, you’ll want to log in and click “Create a new recording” from the Dashboard.
